Takako is an active trail running athlete. It’s been six months since she started CrossFit! She started because she wanted to learn coordinated movements and improve her English skills. Her big goal is to win a medal at next year’s Trail Running World Championships. Since starting CrossFit, she’s gradually been able to do more and more, and being able to see her own growth has helped motivate her to continue training.
**How long have you been doing CrossFit?
About 6 months
What made you decide to start?
Because I wanted to be able to move in a coordinated manner and to be able to speak English.
Do you have any goals or objectives?
My big goal is to win a medal at next year’s Trail Running World Championships. My smaller goals are to increase the number of horizontal bar events I can master and to be able to perform weight events in good form.
What do you enjoy most about doing CrossFit?
I was able to do exercises that I couldn’t do before, and my muscles had gotten stronger without me even realizing it.
What have you enjoyed most since joining the ACROSS FITNESS gym and community?
* In WOD, everyone does the same menu, so we all share the sense of accomplishment after finishing. And I’ve met friends outside of running. My worldview as a community has expanded. I’m also gradually becoming able to do more, which gives me a sense of growth and increases my motivation to train.
Have you noticed any changes in your daily life since starting ACROSS FITNESS?
I used to have a hard time getting up early, but thanks to the morning classes I’ve gotten into the habit of getting up early. I’ve gained some upper body strength, which has stabilized my core and made it easier for me to run faster than before, so I feel like my performance has improved.
What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about getting started?
At first, I was worried about whether I could keep up since I’m not good at exercise, but every movement is taught carefully, and as the things I can do gradually increase, I really enjoy being able to feel my own growth.
There are classes from morning to night, so I find it appealing that I can train according to my own lifestyle.
Also, in addition to CrossFit, there are various classes such as Gymnastics, Yoga, and Weight Lifting, which I think makes it easy to get started.
The fulfillment and fun of CrossFit really are something you have to experience to understand, so please be sure to try it at least once!
