Community Spotlight : MASAHIRO HAKAMATA

Masahiro has been doing CrossFit for exactly two years. He had been interested in CrossFit since his university days, but there was no box he could attend at the time. After moving, he joined ACROSS FITNESS. With the goal of improving his surfing performance, which is his hobby, he trains diligently every day. He says that the most enjoyable part is “the moments when I can feel myself growing by pushing beyond my limits.” Since starting at ACROSS FITNESS, he has been getting sick less often and has become more positive toward both work and his hobbies. He was also surprised by the change that he can head to work without feeling tired even after morning training sessions. For those who are thinking of starting, he sends a strong message: “There is an environment where you can encourage each other with your peers and keep going while having fun, so please take that first step!”

How long have you been doing CrossFit?

It has been exactly two years!

What made you decide to start?

I had known about CrossFit since my university days, but there was no box near my home that I could attend. After moving, when I was looking for a gym I could go to after work, I found out about this box and decided to take the plunge and join.

Do you have any goals or objectives?

To improve my surfing performance, which is my hobby.

What has been the most fun thing about doing CrossFit?

Pushing beyond my physical limits many times and feeling my own growth.

What has been the most enjoyable thing since joining the ACROSS FITNESS gym and community?

That I get sick less often and can continue to enjoy both my work and my hobbies!

Have you noticed any changes in your daily life since starting ACROSS FITNESS?

I often go to the box before work, and I am surprised that day by day I am able to work without feeling tired.

Do you have any advice for those who are thinking about starting?

You can train while encouraging each other with your peers, and you can receive advice from the coaches on things you cannot do, so you can continue without giving up and have fun!
