Athlete Spotlight: Yoshida

Yoshida has been doing CrossFit for over 3 years. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic his previous gym closed, and he found a nearby CrossFit gym. Yoshida believes in the importance of performing movements carefully to prevent injuries and also enjoys the welcoming community at our box. CrossFit has made his muscles stronger, and he finds it akin to meditation, offering an escape from life's stress in an extraordinary environment. Previously, Yoshida was into climbing and mountaineering, which, like CrossFit, requires constant focus to avoid serious harm. CrossFit has become a healing outlet for his mind.

クロスフィットをどのぐらい続けていますか?
3年以上。

始めようと思ったキッカケは何ですか?
コロナ禍で、通っていた24時間ジムが一時閉鎖、勤め先もリモートワークになりました。運動不足解消のため、家から一番近いジムを探した結果CrossFitと出会いました。

目的や目標などはありますか?
怪我をせず、長期的に運動できる身体作り。一つ一つの動きを丁寧に行い、功を焦らない。

クロスフィットをやっていて最も楽しいと思えた事は?
色んなバックグラウンドや価値観を持った人たちと出会えたこと。ゆるコミュニティが一番の魅力です。

CrossFit を始めて日常生活で変化を感じたことはありますか?
筋力がついて以前着ていたスーツが入らなくなりました。 😂

これから始めようと思っている方に何かアドバイスをお願いします
CrossFitを始める前はクライミング 、バックカントリーや登山をしていました。共通点として、どれも一瞬一瞬 の判断や動きに集中しないと死んだり大怪我につながります。 CrossFitは、日々ストレス社会に身を置いている私たちにとって、短時間でもそれを忘れ非日常の中に身を 置かせてくれる瞑想のようなものです。ぜひCrossFitで心の疲れを癒しましょう。

How long have you been doing CrossFit?
More than 3 years.

What made you decide to start?
Due to the Corona disaster, the 24-hour gym I used to go to closed temporarily and my employer also made me work remotely. I searched for the closest gym to my house to get exercise and found CrossFit!

Do you have any goals or objectives?
Building a body that is injury-free and able to exercise for the long term. Performing each movement carefully and not rushing to achieve success.

What is the most enjoyable thing about doing CrossFit?
Meeting people from different backgrounds and values. The loose community is the best thing about it.

Have you noticed any changes in your daily life since you started CrossFit?
My muscles are stronger and I can no longer fit into the suit I used to wear 😂

What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about starting CrossFit?
Before CrossFit, I was climbing, backcountry and mountaineering. All have one thing in common: if you don't focus on your decisions and movements at every moment, you can die or be seriously injured. CrossFit is like meditation for those of us who live in a stressful society, allowing us to forget about it for a short time and put ourselves in an extraordinary environment.
